It warms you up from the inside out and keeps you nice and full for the rest of the night.

Today I’ll be sharing my Paleo Slow Cooked Turkey and Sweet Potato recipe. It is very easy to prepare and it yields quite a bit, so this means that it’ll require little work on your part and you’ll also have dinner that will last you a few nights! In my household this recipe usually lasts around five to seven days, and that my friends, is super nice…especially on those nights when we’re feeling a little lazy.

This Paleo Slow Cooked Turkey and Sweet Potato is the perfect cozy dinner for any fall or winter night.
Ingredients
  • 2 lbs. of ground turkey
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, cubed
  • 1 cup baby carrots, chopped
  • 2 15-oz cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 red onion, diced
  • 1 cup green onions, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 cup + ¼ cup ​filtered water, divided
Instructions
  1. Add ground turkey to a skillet, and help break it down with a wooden spoon. Add in ¼ cup of water and cover with lid. Cook on medium heat until no longer pink, about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent turkey from burning.
  2. Transfer turkey to crockpot, and add in remaining filtered water, garlic, red onion, green onion, diced tomatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, honey and spices. Mix well, cover crockpot with lid and cook on low for 7 hours.
  3. Serve and top with diced avocados or with desired toppings.

  1. Hey! This recipe looks awesome. Has lots of stuff I love and I have a couple sweet potatoes that need eating. Just one question. You say that the dish will last 5-7 days. I’ll be eating this primarily by myself. I still want to keep the portions because I need to finish off what I have anyway. If it proves too much, does this dish freeze well? I typically avoid freezing food because it’s just never the same afterwards.

    1. Hi Marc! You know, I have never frozen this dish to eat later..but I have a feeling it should save well. Give it a try! 🙂 If you don’t think it saves well, then next time, just cut the ingredients in half to make less. Cheers!
