Hello delicious and colorful Paleo Caribbean Sunset Smoothie! I have been craving you all day. A refreshing, satisfying and filling drink that makes you feel alive and gives you all of the tropical feels? Yup, I wanna keep this one around for a bit! Especially now that Summer is right around the corned and those hot days are going to make us crave nothing but icy cold drinks. Ahhh, summer — my kind of living. (Enter heart eye emoji here!)
This smoothie recipe comes from my Paleo Smoothies cookbook, which I wrote back in 2014. And it came out around May, so it’s been around FOUR years since I wrote it. WHAT!? I can’t believe it’s been that long. Time flies, my friends. It seems to me like it was just yesterday that I blew up my blender due to overuse haha. That seriously happened. I made so many smoothies and tested so many recipes, that my blender literally started smoking and it just gave up. But that’s when my husband surprised me with a Vitamix, so I was not mad about it. Kinda glad it happened, ya know? #win
My Paleo Smoothies Cookbook has 150 (yes, that’s right, one hundred and fifty) smoothie recipes that fit the Paleo lifestyle and are Paleo approved. There’s something for everyone there, a smoothie for every and any occasion. I share tropical smoothies, such as the one I am sharing with you today, all fruit smoothies, dessert-type smoothies, three-ingredient smoothies, green-smoothies, you name it. It’s there.
Plus, the cookbook has a few intro chapters about the Paleo Diet, why to follow it, how to incorporate smoothies (and why) into the Paleo diet, and a bunch of smoothie tips and tricks. I spent a TON of time writing these, so the info is on-point and very insightful!
This particular smoothie recipe is one I really love, because it takes me back to the Caribbean beach, where my family and I vacationed a few times. We’d go there when school was out, and some of our most cherished memories were created while on trips like these, being together without any distractions. I wanted to create a smoothie that sort of represented those memories, adding the flavors we would taste at the beach.
This Paleo Caribbean Sunset Smoothie is super refreshing and and carries my favorite fruits: banana, papaya, strawberries and orange. As you can see in the recipe below, it only calls for fruits, so all the sugar in this drink is 100% natural. No added anything. Not even honey. Pure fruits.
The combination of the fruits here makes for a balanced smoothie as far as taste and texture goes. It can be enjoyed first thing in the morning, as a snack mid-day, or while watching a sunset later in the day (as the name suggests). Hope you love it!
